Cape Arts & Culture Peninsula Tour Overview

After pickup, we head to the fishing village of Hout Bay for a visit to Sembach Gallery(open on weekends and by appointment only on weekdays). Sophisticated artworks with exquisite style and contemporary beauty by some of the most talented South African Artists are showcased here. In its new home, the gallery features a unique setting of shabby chic meets industrial, snugly ensconced in the vibrant, hustle & bustle, precinct of the Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay.
In response to the gallery owners’ passions and commitment to up-liftment of individuals artists and communities, they have therefore invited Intle Art to share their space.
Intle Art enables aspiring and disadvantaged young artists in Hout Bay to develop artistic and entrepreneurial skills.
Travel via Chapman’s Peak Drive (provided the road is open), which winds its way between Hout Bay and Noordhoek on the Atlantic Coast on the south-western tip of South Africa. Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. At Noordhoek we make a stop at the Farm Village to appreciate the unique local South African handmade craft.
Worth a visit is Noordhoek Art offering, an eclectic mix of collectables, photography, paintings by famousSA Artists, designer jewellery, porcelain artifacts and more. Continue to the coastal village of Kalk Bay where we stop to visit Kalk Bay Modern, located on Main Road. The gallery holds one of the largest collections of contemporary San art from South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Situated above  the famous Olympia Bakery with arguably the best view of Kalk Bay Harbour and False Bay, Kalk Bay Modern offers a unique selection of fine art prints, oil paintings, photography, ceramics and its own range of Art-I-San textiles (previously known as Ekoka textiles).
Just a short 5 min walk further, you will find Artvark Gallery–a classic and contemporary gallery with a keen eye for folk art, specialising in paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, craft and unique custom-made steel works.
It has been a long-time favourite of Cape Town art lovers and tourists visiting Kalk Bay’s galleries. The drive following the beautiful False Bay coastline takes you to the distinctly bohemian seaside village of Muizenberg. Enjoy lunch (to own account) before exploring the colourful street art and décor that is simply everywhere in this surfers’ village and is a reflection of a community that believes in self-expression, while still maintaining an overall aesthetic that is pleasing to all, whether resident or visitor.End the day with a visit to the Norval Foundation which is a centre for art and cultural expression, dedicated to the research and exhibition of 20th-and 21st-century visual art from South Africa and beyond. Located in the Steenberg area of Cape Town, adjacent to Table Mountain National Park, the Norval Foundation combines the experience of art with an appreciation for nature.TheSculpture Garden, outdoor amphitheatre, purpose-built exhibition spaces and research library are situated in a unique setting that offers visitors a multisensory experience. This is complemented by the Skotnes Restaurant and Bar, a bespoke shop and a children’s playground.
